X-Ray Disposal Services
X-ray processing and imaging equipment can generate hazardous materials that require specialized handling and disposal. BioServ provides compliant x-ray disposal and recycling services for healthcare facilities, dental practices, imaging centers, and veterinary clinics. We provide disposal of:
- Fixer / developer solutions
- Lead vests
- X-ray films
- Lead foils
- X-ray heads
Typically, disposal of these items is infrequent or a one-time occurrence, particularly with X-ray head units. Upon replacement or transition to a digital system, the old x-ray head unit must be properly managed and recycled by law.
As practices convert to digital x-ray processes, the need for this type of ongoing waste management is eliminated. BioServ has no minimum service frequency requirements, and is also happy to offer one-time services for all of your x-ray waste disposal needs.
How Our X-Ray Disposal Services Work
All services are individually priced and include waste characterization, labor, transportation and disposal or recycling. Clients receive cradle-to-grave waste tracking documentation as well as destruction or recycling certification for your records.
Upon arrival at your facility one of our certified hazardous waste technicians will ensure your waste is properly labeled and packaged in DOT-approved waste containers in accordance with the law. All waste will then be transported to an EPA approved waste treatment or recycling facility for processing.
Why Proper X-Ray Disposal Matters
X-ray waste may contain silver-bearing chemicals, lead components, and other regulated materials that cannot be discarded with standard trash. Improper disposal can create environmental liabilities and regulatory concerns while preventing valuable materials from being recovered through recycling.
