Sharps Disposal Services
Sharps disposal is one of the most common and highly regulated categories of medical waste. BioServ’s single-stream sharps pickup service is designed for healthcare, dental, and clinical facilities of all sizes, providing a convenient and cost-effective solution for compliant medical waste disposal.
How Our Sharps Disposal Service Works
Our sharps disposal service uses a streamlined, container-based pickup system designed to simplify medical waste handling. Sharps containers are provided and collected by BioServ, streamlining on-site handling and eliminating the need for complex segregation or separate waste workflows.
On a scheduled pickup, a trained BioServ technician collects the materials, ensures proper labeling and chain-of-custody documentation, and transports them to a licensed treatment facility for processing and destruction in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Accepted Waste Types
Our sharps disposal services are designed for the safe and compliant handling of regulated sharps waste commonly generated in healthcare, dental, and clinical environments. Sharps waste includes any used or contaminated items that can puncture or lacerate the skin and may be potentially infectious. To protect staff from needle-stick injuries and reduce infection risk, all waste must be properly contained in FDA-approved, puncture-resistant sharps disposal containers prior to pickup to ensure safe handling and transport.
Compliance & Safety
Sharps waste is subject to strict federal and state regulations due to its potential to cause injury and transmit infectious materials. Our disposal process is designed to support compliance with OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, DOT requirements for the transportation of regulated medical waste, and applicable state medical waste regulations. All sharps containers are handled by trained technicians using documented chain-of-custody procedures to maintain compliance from pickup through final destruction at licensed treatment facilities, including EPA-approved autoclave or alternative treatment systems. This structured process helps reduce liability risk, supports audit readiness, and ensures your facility maintains a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
We made our sharps disposal services simple so that you can focus on your practice and your patients.
